Death in the family

We're sad to announce the passing of David Cho, a special husband, father, and leader. One of our Family Service Projects was aimed at supporting the Cho Family as David's terminal condition was rapidly worsening.
The Buerkle family helped pioneer The Shelbie and David Cho Project. David Cho served for decades as a youth worker in the Washington D.C. area. His work was, by the world's standards, relatively unsung and of low salary, but one would have never known that by the passion and energy of his work. And as much as he threw himself into his students, he gave much more to his own family. He will be sorely missed.

He leaves four kids and a fifth on the way. The family has little savings and faces great financial uncertainty. The project is aimed at paying off the family's $500,000 mortgage so they can stay in their current home.

On a poignant note, the Cho's fifth child Liam was born on the scheduled day of David's funeral. We pass on that bittersweet mixture of condolences and congratulations to the family.
